Are you put off using a website if it has a .co.uk domain rather than a .com ?

The website I am thinking of starting would possibly have a .co.uk domain rather than a .com one. The content will be specific to a small area of the UK so would it matter if it was a .co.uk? Are there any examples of successful .co.uk sites that have no .com equivalent? http://bit.ly/mdaTEn
