northern cyprus! can you fly to larnaca, hire a car, and cross the border for longer than one day? how?

i am visiting northern cyprus and am getting varying reports on the ease of crossing the border from the south via larnaca and remaining in northern cyprus for the remainder of my travels then returning to larnaca to fly out. any tips http://bit.ly/mjWPDw
